2011 and 2012

2011 was a good year for us. Dan continued working hard as an RN, I finished all my coursework, passed my oral exam, and had my dissertation proposal accepted (just before Christmas!). We traveled to London, Lake George, Utah, Cape Cod, and Switzerland. We served in our Church, biked around New York City, watched too many friends move from Harlem, and said goodbye to my Grandpa Art and our family dog Gunther.

I'm not sure how much or if I will blog this year. The original dialogue and exchange with friends and family has seemed to have dissolved and I'm not sure it's worth the time and energy to blog (publicly) for myself when I could be journaling or attempting to be creative. Anyway...

My goal for 2012 is this: Live purposefully. Live joyfully.

We hope 2012 will bring more travel, organization, progress on a dissertation, an ICU job for Dan, good food, health, new experiences, and time well spent with friends and family. All with purpose and joy.

Happy New Year!

I too love reading your blog. I hope you continue to blog! Joe always asks me what is up with you guys. We are planning a trip back East probably the end of the summer. Jared Joe's older brother moved out there with his wife, and we want to head into New York. Maybe we can meet up with you guys!

Please come and visit us Tai! We just watched an old home video of Dan and Joe's days as Student Body Officers hosting an assembly. We laughed our heads off! I have such fond memories of riding around with Dan and Joe in the Bronco.

I think you should keep blogging... I love looking at your beautiful pictures and artistic abilities, and hearing about live in the big city! :) I print my blog each year through blurb and it acts as a journal-- that is my motivation for blogging at all! :)

Just clicked through from Naomi's blog. What a pretty space you have. This photo is stunning--but even more so, your words. "Live purposefully. Live joyfully." That's how I want to live this year too.

Good luck with the dissertation. I've not braved the PhD yet--a master's thesis may have scarred me!--but I can appreciate the endless amounts of work you must be pouring into it!

Love,

If you're willing to listen to a stranger from across the country, please keep blogging. You see life in a beautiful way.

Beautiful goals. We love you and Dan. If you're not blogging, that just means we'll have to email more. And there's nothing wrong with that! Hope 2012 is a truly wonderful year. You two inspire us.
